Electrician III:
$31.98 - $40.29/hour Sr.
Electrician:
$38.09 - $47.99/hour Position Overview Performs duties as necessary to inspect, repair, construct, retrofit and otherwise maintain electrical systems and related equipment for the District's water and wastewater treatment systems and other facilities to ensure all work performed meets safety and electrical codes and regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Both Positions) Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems and equipment. Maintain electrical systems serving water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations, storage tanks, meter vaults, and related facilities. Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical failures using visual inspections and testing equipment. Perform work on medium-voltage electrical systems and equipment up to 4160V, including: Switchgear MCCs Electric motors VFDs Transformers Relays Instrumentation equipment Motorized valve operators Install conduit, wiring, cable, enclosures, and junction boxes in accordance with applicable electrical codes and standards. Perform preventive maintenance activities and document work within the District's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Maintain effective working relationships with District personnel, contractors, and external customers. Perform general facility electrical maintenance, including lighting systems, battery backup systems, security systems, and HVAC-related electrical equipment. Follow all safety policies, procedures, and applicable electrical codes. Perform other duties as assigned. Additional Responsibilities - Electrician III Perform inspections, repairs, modifications, installations, and maintenance activities under general supervision. Collect cathodic protection data and assist with facility housekeeping activities. Assist the Senior Electrician with construction projects and retrofits involving new and existing facilities. Additional Responsibilities - Senior Electrician Provide day-to-day supervision and technical guidance to Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) staff. Coordinate and direct electrical and electronic maintenance activities throughout District facilities. Assist in overseeing all District electrical and electronic equipment. Support installation and maintenance of automation control systems, PLCs, LPUs, level controls, and instrumentation systems. Assist the Assistant Maintenance Manager with the design, construction, and retrofit of electrical systems. Develop and implement strategic maintenance plans. Coordinate contractor activities and ensure quality and compliance of contracted work. Manage electrical on-call schedules and collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient operations. Minimum QualificationsElectrician III Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Three (3) to five (5) years of advanced hands-on experience in commercial and/or industrial electrical and mechanical work. Valid State of Texas Journeyman Electrician License required upon hire. Must complete required continuing education for license renewal. Senior Electrician Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Six (6) or more years of experience working with water/wastewater utility, municipal, or industrial electrical systems. Valid State of Texas Master Electrician License required upon hire. Must complete required continuing education for license renewal. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Both Positions) Ability to read, interpret, and analyze electrical diagrams, blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and construction plans. Ability to follow detailed instructions, policies, and standard operating procedures. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work safely in industrial and outdoor environments, including confined spaces. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks. Additional Requirements (Both Positions) Valid Texas Driver's License required. Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening, physical examination, and background investigation.
