Qualifications:
College hours, high school diploma or GED Texas Operator's License Electrician Master License Available to respond to 24 hour emergency calls Ability to work flexible hours when necessary Ability to read electrical blue prints Physically able to lift 50 pounds Ability to comprehend written and verbal English
Primary Purpose:
Help maintain the physical school plant's electrical needs in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Assumes primary responsibility for the safe condition of lighting fixtures, wiring, and electrical equipment owned or operated by the district. Performs repairs and/or new jobs as requested on approved work order. Pull electrical permits as necessary for repairs or modifications in district facilities. Able to provide recommendations when electrical assistance should be obtained. Reports any safety hazards in a building and able to properly power down/up main distribution panels. Maintain an inventory of supplies and recommend supplies and equipment for purchase. Examines district-owned facilities on a regular basis for purposes of preventive maintenance and safety. Must be able to troubleshoot high/low voltage, identify electrical shorts, single phasing and bad grounds. Must follow local/federal electrical safety standards and understand electrical codes. Efficient use the Asset Essentials work order program. Effective communication and coordination with electrical contractors and power distribution authorities. May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts as needed. Responsible for monitoring district issued cell phone including all phone calls, voicemails, text messages and emails that pertain to district related business. Attend CEU and training classes as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
Equipment Used:
Electronic tablet/laptop, Multi-meter, and electrical testing equipment; ; wire puller; pipe benders and threaders; hand and power tools (saw, drills, etc.); trencher, jackhammer; concrete saw, ladder , bucket truck, man lifts. Light truck or van.
Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting ad carrying. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, around electrical power lines, outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures. Frequent district wide travel.
