6/17/2026 This position is responsible for the electrical maintenance and service work in the Utilities Department. Installs conduits, wires, pull boxes, switchboards, controllers, and switches required in making additions, extensions, or alterations in electrical systems. Tests, locates, and repairs trouble in electrical circuits and equipment; repairs and replaces defective parts in motors, generators, storage batteries, switchboards, controllers, contactors, switches, and other fixtures and appliances. Maintain a stock of selected electrical supplies; prepare reports and maintain records. Services, repairs, and maintains lighting, power, and heating, as assigned. Performs electrical maintenance and service work. Installs or repairs SCADA fixtures, power outlets, and switches. Maintains and repairs the air conditioning unit. Performs any other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of modern SCADA procedures and methods, including computers and applicable software. Knowledge of national electrical codes. Knowledge of the installation of emergency backup generators. Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools, and materials of the electrical trade. Ability to meet the schedules and deadlines of the work. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information and professional boundaries. Ability to work from drawings and specifications. Ability to perform strenuous and routine work. Must have a high school diploma or GED certificate from an accredited institution. At least five (5) years of electrical work experience. Valid Texas Journeyman Electrician License. Valid Texas Driver's License. Complexity/Scope of Work The work consists of related electrical maintenance and repair duties. Electrical hazards contribute to the complexity of the position. The purpose of this position is to install, repair, and maintain electrical systems in county facilities. Success in this position ensures safe and well-maintained electrical systems. Physical Demands/Work Environment Occasionally Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, or poles. Moving oneself in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces. Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another. Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions. Operating machinery and/or power tools. Working in low temperatures Working in high temperatures Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind. Working in noisy environments. Working in hazardous conditions. Working in small and/or enclosed spaces. Working in adverse environmental conditions is expected. Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing. Light work that includes carrying objects up to 20 pounds. Medium work that includes carrying objects up to 50 pounds. Heavy work that includes carrying objects up to 100 pounds or more. Driving a County vehicle or a personal vehicle. Constantly Communicating with others to exchange information. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment. Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned. Other Requirements/Information Must possess a valid and current Texas driver's license. Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this job. Pre-employment drug/alcohol testing, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and criminal background checks are required. This position is covered under Civil Service; therefore, is subject to the Civil Service Rules and Regulations in addition to all other Webb County policies. Valid Texas Driver's License•If the applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver's License must be obtained prior to employment.
