An Electrician works on electrical systems in buildings. Installs electrical wiring and lighting in new construction, and repairs or upgrade wiring, outlets or other parts of older electrical systems. Checks safety and makes installations or repairs that are in compliance with local building codes. May also specialize in electrical work required in different manufacturing industries, electrical systems for cars, plane or boats, or electrical and lighting work in the film industry.
Electrician II is responsible for the maintaining, ordering, installing, tracking and optimization of electrical equipment used in field operations. This position should be in charge of the electrical system of a production area and should be able to provide day to day support with some assistance.
Responsibilities:
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment used in oil and gas production operations. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and field equipment. Change and align electric motors, sheaves, and belts. Calculate proper sheave sizes to achieve required strokes per minute (SPM). Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical control panels. Install ESP (Electric Submersible Pump) surface equipment. Install conduit, pull wire, and complete electrical wiring installations. Splice underground 600-volt cable. Install and maintain grounding systems and surge protection devices. Install and maintain Pump-Off Controllers (POCs). Utilize hot sticks to replace line fuses and reset reclosers. Maintain electrical documentation and communicate equipment issues to supervisors. Coordinate with contractors and support field operations during planned and emergency maintenance. Participate in Management of Change (MOC), safety programs, and incident response activities. Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked company utility vehicle. Participate in a rotating 24-hour on-call schedule for electrical emergencies.
Qualifications:
3+ yrs. of Oil and Gas Electrical experience required. High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Working knowledge of electrical codes and safety regulations applicable to the oil and gas industry. Experience troubleshooting motors, control panels, electrical distribution systems, and production equipment. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Experience using hot sticks and working with medium-voltage equipment is required. Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced field environment. PEC Safeland Certification (issued within the last 6 months).
