Job Description
NSC Staffing is currently hiring experienced Red Badge Electricians with an Active Secret Clearance to support operations at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia. Minimum Requirements Active, fully adjudicated Secret Security Clearance U.S. Citizen Ability to obtain a Red NAVSEA Badge Ability to obtain DBIDS access Ability to obtain and maintain government base access Position Summary The Red Badge Electrician Secret Clearence performs a variety of electrical installation, repair, maintenance, overhaul, and troubleshooting tasks on shipboard and shop-based electrical and electromechanical systems. This position requires minimal supervision and the ability to independently perform all duties associated with the trade. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Requires limited to no supervision/oversight, has experience in the trade qualifications, and can perform all work required as an Electrician. Must be able to follow detailed repair procedures and instructions required to complete electrical production operations. Perform installation, repair, overhaul or modification shipboard or in shop to electrical or electromechanical systems and components. Perform component and/or system troubleshooting to diagnose problems. Assist with the performance of on-site field service for system grooms and checkouts, minor repairs and system configuration validation. Prepare and install equipment or system alterations in accordance with the technical specifications. Perform shipboard work for electrical system/component evaluations. Additional duties as assigned. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications 6 years of Marine electrician experience High School/GED with Apprenticeship Diploma and additional vocational courses or technical school graduate; and/or military and/or civilian experience with marine electrical systems in a repair department or shipyard. Must have the ability to obtain government base access. Knowledge and practical skills tests required. Fiber Optic Splicing, Deep Submergence Systems (SOC MCD A, B, and C), SUBSAFE Qualification. Fiber Optic, Cable Way Certification and Connector Fabrication experience is preferred. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret/Confidential security clearance. Must be a US citizen who is not a dual citizen of any other country. Must be willing to travel up to 75%.
