Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Estimating Intern to join our team. This position is an excellent opportunity for students looking to gain hands-on experience in construction estimating while balancing their academic commitments. As a part-time student worker, you will work alongside experienced estimators, learn valuable skills, and contribute to the success of our project bids. Key Responsibilities Assist with
Cost Estimates:
Support the estimating team in reviewing project plans, specifications, and other documents to help determine scope of work and costs.Bid Proposal Support:
Help preform takeoffs prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for construction projects under supervision.Cross-Team Collaboration:
Work with other departments and stakeholders to ensure estimates are accurate and complete.Cost Monitoring:
Assist in tracking and analyzing project costs, and help flag potential cost overruns.Communication:
Communicate regularly with crew members, subcontractors, and team members to support project schedules and budgets.Follow Safety Protocols:
Understand and adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines, including wearing protective gear as required when performing site visits.Learn and Develop Skills:
Take advantage of on-the-job learning opportunities to build estimating knowledge and skills, including exposure to estimating software. Qualifications Currently enrolled in a university program, college, or technical school in engineering, construction management, or a related field. Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team. Basic knowledge of construction or estimating concepts is a plus but not required. Punctuality and reliability are essential. Familiarity with estimating software (e.g. InEight, HeavyBid, HCSS, Bid2Win, Agtek, Planswift, Bluebeam) is a plus but not required.
