Job Description
Senior Estimator - Iron Horse Companies About Us Iron Horse Companies is a leading commercial plumbing contractor, delivering high-quality work across Hospitality, Multi-Family, healthcare, institutional, and educational, Tenant Improvements, JOC, and Design/Build projects. As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Senior Estimator to take the lead on plumbing and mechanical bids and help drive our success. Position Summary The Senior Estimator will manage the full estimating process from start to finish, including reviewing plans, performing takeoffs, developing proposals, and coordinating with vendors and subcontractors. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and leadership skills. Candidates with plumbing and mechanical estimating experience will be highly valued. Key Responsibilities Lead the review of bid documents, drawings, and specifications for plumbing and mechanical projects. Perform detailed quantity takeoffs, labor analysis, and cost breakdowns. Prepare complete and competitive cost estimates and proposals. Solicit, review, and incorporate subcontractor and vendor pricing. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure estimates align with project execution strategies. Identify cost-saving opportunities, risks, and value engineering options. Maintain and update historical cost data for future reference. Participate in pre-bid meetings and job walks as needed. Mentor and support Junior Estimators and Estimating Assistants. Qualifications 7+ years of estimating experience Strong ability to read and interpret construction documents. Proficiency with estimating software (QuoteSoft preferred) and Microsoft Excel. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Prior field experience in plumbing or mechanical trades is a plus. Why Join Iron Horse Companies?
