Heavy Civil Construction Estimator Copper State Pavement - 1.0 Glendale, AZ Job Details Full-time 3 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Qualifications Pricing Databases Math Attention to detail Contracts Full Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Heavy Civil Construction Estimator to join Copper State Pavement. The ideal candidate will have hands-on estimating experience with asphalt paving, concrete, grading, site work, and pavement preservation . This position requires a strong understanding of heavy civil construction methods, production, materials, subcontractor pricing, and project costs. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and comprehensive estimates for a variety of public and private construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong understanding of heavy civil construction and paving operations. Key Responsibilities Review plans, specifications, bid documents, and other project documentation to develop detailed and accurate cost estimates. Prepare estimates for heavy civil, asphalt paving, concrete, grading, earthwork, and site development projects . Estimate pavement preservation and maintenance projects , including slurry seal, micro-surfacing, chip seal, crack sealing, and related treatments . Analyze quantities, production rates, labor, equipment, materials, trucking, subcontractor costs, and other project expenses. Develop competitive bid proposals, including detailed cost breakdowns, assumptions, exclusions, and schedules. Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors, suppliers, trucking companies, and other vendors. Collaborate with project managers, operations personnel, clients, and subcontractors to understand project scope, constructability, and requirements. Perform quantity takeoffs and verify quantities against plans, specifications, and bid schedules. Analyze project data to identify potential risks, cost-saving opportunities, and areas requiring clarification. Maintain and update estimating databases, production rates, material costs, subcontractor pricing, and historical project data. Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and project reviews as needed. Assist with contract negotiations, change orders, and project pricing. Ensure estimates comply with company standards, contract requirements, and applicable industry regulations. Prepare estimates and bid submissions accurately and within established deadlines. Skills & Qualifications Proven experience as a Heavy Civil Estimator, Paving Estimator, or Construction Estimator . Strong knowledge of asphalt paving, concrete, grading, earthwork, site work, and pavement preservation . Experience estimating slurry seal, micro-surfacing, chip seal, crack sealing, and other pavement maintenance treatments preferred. Strong understanding of construction means and methods, production rates, materials, equipment, and labor requirements. Experience with public works and/or private-sector heavy civil construction projects preferred. Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with HCSS, B2W/Bid2Win, or similar heavy civil estimating software preferred. Ability to perform detailed quantity takeoffs and accurately interpret plans, specifications, technical drawings, and bid documents. Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Ability to manage multiple bids, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong understanding of competitive bidding, subcontractor procurement, and construction costs.
