This is a dual-level opportunity for experienced professionals in commercial structural steel estimating, industrial steel estimating, miscellaneous metals, and heavy steel construction . Candidates may be considered for either the Structural Steel Estimator or Estimating Manager role depending on experience level.
POSITION SUMMARY
  • STRUCTURAL
STEEL ESTIMATOR
Responsible for preparing accurate, detailed, and competitive structural steel estimates for commercial and industrial construction projects. This role requires strong knowledge of steel fabrication, steel erection, and construction estimating processes . The estimator will work closely with project management, detailing (Tekla), field teams, vendors, and subcontractors to develop complete scopes of work, pricing, and risk assessments to support profitable project execution.
POSITION SUMMARY
  • ESTIMATING MANAGER The Estimating Manager leads the structural steel estimating department , overseeing bid strategy, conceptual estimating, pricing strategy, and team development.
This role is responsible for driving profitable work acquisition through accurate estimates, strong vendor relationships, and market awareness in the structural steel and industrial construction industry . KEY RESPONSIBILITIESStructural Steel Estimator Duties Prepare detailed structural steel and miscellaneous metals estimates for commercial and industrial projects Perform quantity takeoffs, material, labor, fabrication, and erection pricing Analyze architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and bid documents Develop complete scopes of work including inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications Evaluate project risks, constructability, logistics, and scheduling impacts Coordinate with steel fabricators, erectors, vendors, and subcontractors Maintain estimating databases, historical cost data, and pricing models Participate in bid reviews and project handoffs Estimating Manager Duties Lead and manage the structural steel estimating team Develop bid strategy, pricing models, and conceptual budgets Oversee large-scale commercial and industrial steel estimates Mentor and train estimating staff for accuracy and efficiency Maintain relationships with general contractors, vendors, and clients Track steel market trends, labor costs, and competitive pricing Implement estimating process improvements and KPI tracking Support high-level client presentations and project pursuits
REQUIRED
EXPERIENCEStructural Steel Estimator 3-5+ years of experience in structural steel estimating, steel fabrication, or industrial construction estimating Strong ability to read and interpret structural drawings, architectural plans, and specifications Knowledge of steel erection means and methods, fabrication processes, and construction sequencing Experience with quantity takeoffs and estimating software Proficiency in Bluebeam, Tekla, Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite Strong communication, organization, and deadline management skills Estimating Manager 7-10+ years of structural steel estimating experience in commercial or industrial construction Proven leadership experience managing or mentoring estimators Strong understanding of steel fabrication, erection, and project execution Experience with conceptual estimating, design-assist, and large project bids Ability to manage multiple high-value bids under tight deadlines Advanced proficiency in estimating tools and Excel
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field Experience with Tekla Structures and Bluebeam Revu Familiarity with BIM/VDC coordination workflows Strong knowledge of AISC and AWS standards Experience working with fabrication shops and field erection teams Logan M.
