Working under the direction of the Lead Estimator, this role supports the bidding process by analyzing project plans, performing quantity takeoffs, coordinating vendor and subcontractor pricing, and maintaining organized estimating documentation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Analyze project plans, specifications, and related documents to understand scope, requirements, and constraints. Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost calculations, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Identify key cost variables, assumptions, and risk factors impacting project estimates. Research materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor pricing for bidding purposes. Solicit, review, and compile pricing from vendors and subcontractors. Maintain organized estimate files, bid logs, and supporting documentation for auditability and future reference. Collaborate with the estimating team and other internal stakeholders to clarify scope and resolve discrepancies. Utilize estimating and takeoff software to support efficient and accurate estimating processes. Adapt to evolving systems, tools, and estimating practices as the business grows. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of civil construction means and methods. Strong numerical aptitude with an analytical and detail-oriented mindset. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam; experience with additional estimating software is a plus. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team. Demonstrated professionalism, adaptability, and a positive approach to problem-solving. Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum of three (3) years of estimating experience in the construction industry or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. Position Summary We're looking for a skilled and motivated Estimator to join our growing team and play a key role in winning high‑quality civil construction projects. In this role, you'll prepare accurate, competitive, and well‑supported cost estimates by analyzing plans, performing detailed quantity takeoffs, coordinating vendor and subcontractor pricing, and ensuring all estimating documentation is complete and organized. You'll work closely with the Lead Estimator and project stakeholders, contributing directly to the company's success in securing profitable work and strengthening client relationships. What You'll Do Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and related documents to fully understand scope, requirements, and constraints. Perform precise quantity takeoffs and develop comprehensive cost estimates across materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracted work. Identify cost drivers, assumptions, and risk factors that influence estimate accuracy and competitiveness. Research and maintain up‑to‑date pricing for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services. Solicit, evaluate, and compile vendor and subcontractor quotes to support bid development. Maintain organized estimate files, bid logs, and supporting documentation for internal review and future reference. Collaborate with the estimating team, project managers, and other internal partners to clarify scope, resolve discrepancies, and improve estimating accuracy. Use estimating and takeoff software to streamline workflows and enhance accuracy. Adapt to evolving tools, systems, and best practices as the business continues to grow. What You Bring Working knowledge of civil construction means, methods, and industry standards. Strong numerical aptitude with exceptional attention to detail and analytical thinking. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam; experience with estimating software is a plus. Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
