Commercial Construction Estimator Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in construction estimation, with a focus on commercial building projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of diverse construction ventures by accurately assessing project costs, analyzing bids, and collaborating with project stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Project Evaluation:
Review project specifications, blueprints, and site conditions to thoroughly understand project scope, requirements, and constraints.
Cost Estimation:
Utilize construction estimating software and industry knowledge to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor expenses.
Bid Preparation:
Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to develop comprehensive bid proposals, ensuring alignment with project specifications and budgetary constraints.
Vendor and Subcontractor Management:
Solicit quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, negotiate pricing and terms, and maintain positive relationships to secure competitive pricing and quality services.
Value Engineering:
Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options without compromising project quality or integrity, providing alternative solutions and recommendations as needed.
Cost Tracking:
Monitor project costs throughout the construction process, comparing actual expenses to estimated costs and identifying variances for proactive cost management.
Document Management:
Organize and maintain accurate project documentation, including bids, contracts, change orders, and correspondence, ensuring accessibility for project stakeholders and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Communication:
Communicate effectively with project teams, clients, vendors, and subcontractors to clarify requirements, address concerns, and facilitate smooth project execution.
Industry Knowledge:
Stay abreast of industry trends, construction methods, building codes, regulations, and best practices relevant to commercial construction, continuously enhancing expertise and contributing to team knowledge.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a construction estimator, preferably specializing in commercial building projects. Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, PlanSwift) and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and costs, with the ability to accurately interpret project blueprints and specifications. Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy. Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and build strong relationships. Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field (preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Schedule and Compensation:
This is a full-time position with standard business hours, although occasional overtime may be required to meet project deadlines. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
