Our focus is on wet side mechanical building systems, including general plumbing, steam heating, hydronics, and fire protection. As a design/build firm, we provide solutions for projects of all stages - from early design and development to construction and operations. We are seeking to fill an Assistant Estimator position on our team in Dublin, CA. All positions available include competitive pay and benefits package. The Assistant Estimator will support senior estimators and the pre-construction team in preparing accurate, competitive bids for mechanical construction projects. This role directly contributes to winning new business by assisting with quantity takeoffs, vendor pricing, and bid document management. Ultimately, the Assistant Estimator will improve the estimating team's efficiency and contribute to the company's continuous growth and ability to secure new projects.

Job Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation of detailed cost estimates for plumbing, steam heating, hydronic, and fire protection systems. Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for materials and equipment from construction drawings and specifications. Solicit, collect, and evaluate pricing quotes from subcontractors and material vendors. Assist in reviewing and analyzing bid documents, project manuals, and addenda to ensure complete scope coverage. Collaborate with the design/build team to develop budgets for early-stage conceptual projects. Organize and manage estimating files, prepare RFIs during the bidding phase, and assist with final proposal documents. Maintain and update the company's estimating database and historical cost records. Attend pre-bid meetings and job site walk-throughs to evaluate site conditions. Communicate effectively with clients, general contractors, and vendors to clarify project scope and pricing.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. 1-3 years of experience in the mechanical construction industry, preferably with exposure to estimating (internships count). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (with a strong emphasis on Excel). Familiarity with on-screen takeoff and estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Trimble AutoBid/QuickPen, or similar). Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, specifications, and contract documents. Basic understanding of wet side mechanical building systems. Excellent communication, both written and verbal. Strong mathematical and analytical skills with a high attention to detail. Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and under strict bid deadlines. Valid driver's license.
