What You'll Do Key responsibilities include: Prepare estimates for multiple telecom, structured cabling, network infrastructure, and low-voltage projects. Review project plans, drawings, and specifications; attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope and requirements. Work with Project Assistants and internal teams to obtain and review project documents and specifications. Perform complete takeoffs of project scope and incorporate historical cost data, productivity reports, purchase orders, and subcontract information to develop accurate estimates. Coordinate with Purchasing Agents on material, equipment, and vendor pricing. Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations, negotiate pricing, and determine project resource requirements. Develop project schedules and maintain organized bid calendars. Collaborate with operations, project management, and business development teams to prepare competitive proposals and RFP responses. Deliver complete estimate packages and project documentation to Project Managers following project award. Identify new project opportunities and support business development efforts within the Telecom Division. Lead estimating efforts for semi-complex projects while exercising sound judgment and decision-making. Mentor and support less-experienced estimators and team members. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders. What We're Looking For Demonstrated proficiency in telecom, structured cabling, network infrastructure, and low-voltage estimating functions. Strong understanding of construction-based cost estimating methods, techniques, and industry best practices. Knowledge of labor, material, and equipment cost sources. Ability to interpret plans, specifications, telecom drawings, and project requirements. Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Experience developing competitive proposals and bid packages. Ability to independently estimate semi-routine and small- to mid-sized revenue projects. Sound decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Acts as a subject matter expert and trusted resource within the estimating team. Experience & Education 5+ years of experience in construction industry estimating, preferably within telecom, structured cabling, network infrastructure, security, or low-voltage systems. Bachelor's degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Experience with Bluebeam, Excel, Accubid, ConEst, or similar estimating software preferred. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting while preparing estimates, reviewing plans, and using computers and office software. Frequent hand and finger use for data entry, communication, and document preparation. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally (plans, project documents, equipment samples, etc.). Visual acuity required to review detailed drawings, specifications, and estimating documentation. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb during occasional site visits. Occasional exposure to weather, noise, and active construction environments. Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with clients, vendors, engineers, and internal teams. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and deadlines. Occasional travel to project sites, customer locations, and pre-bid meetings.
