As a Truss Estimator with us, in our Porterville office, you'll have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology, collaborate with a talented team, and play a vital role in shaping the future of construction.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to prepare accurate, detailed and competitive estimates for roof and floor trusses. This position reviews construction plans and specifications, determines project requirements, prepares takeoffs and pricing, and prepares clear bid proposals. The estimator will also work with customers and internal teams to clarify project details, identify value-engineering opportunities, and support a smooth hand-off from bidding through design and production.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with sales and design teams to align estimates with customer expectations and design feasibility.
  • Coordinate with production to ensure estimates reflect current material costs and labor capabilities.
  • Review blueprints, structural drawings, and project specifications to determine material and labor requirements.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for residential and commercial projects.
  • Maintain historical cost data and update pricing databases regularly
  • Communicate with clients to clarify project details and provide value-engineered solutions.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed.
  • Recommend practical, value-engineered options that support customer needs while maintaining quality and project requirements.
  • Complete estimates and bid revisions, change requests, and project handoffs as needed
  • Perform other related duties and support special projects as assigned.
What We're Looking For:
  • Experience in construction estimating, building materials, truss manufacturing, framing, or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, complete work.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids, changing priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with customers and internal teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, and other truss design/estimating software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of lumber, building components, construction methods, and applicable building codes is a plus
Qualifications:
    Education:
    Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred, not required.
      Experience:
      Experience in truss or structural component estimating preferred.
        Skills:
        Strong math and analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
        Physical Requirements:
        • Ability to focus for extended periods while working on a computer
        • Occasionally required to visit job sites or manufacturing areas.
        • Must be able to lift and carry documents and samples up to 25 pounds.
