ABOUT US
Jefferson State Highways, Inc. (JSH) is a California-licensed general engineering and specialty contractor (CSLB #1055876, Class A and C-13) based in Redding. Our construction division specializes in drainage, underground utilities, and civil infrastructure, including Caltrans and public agency contracts across Northern California. This is a newly developed division in growing company which means there is flexibility and ability to help shape and grow this division.
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager / Estimator to lead our civil and drainage construction projects from bid through completion. This role combines estimating, project oversight, and client/agency coordination. The ideal candidate has a strong background in drainage systems and underground work and can manage multiple projects in a fast-paced public-works environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare detailed cost estimates, takeoffs, and bid proposals for drainage, underground utility, and civil infrastructure projects Manage projects through full lifecycle: scheduling, budgeting, subcontractor coordination, and field execution Review plans, specifications, and contract documents (including Caltrans standards) Coordinate with project engineers, foremen, subcontractors, and material suppliers Track project costs, change orders, submittals, and progress billing Ensure compliance with safety, prevailing wage, and contract requirements Maintain client and agency relationships
QUALIFICATIONS
7+ years of construction project management and/or estimating experience (preferred) Demonstrated experience with drainage and underground construction Knowledge of civil infrastructure and public-works contracting (Caltrans experience a plus) Proficiency in estimating software, takeoff tools, and project management systems Ability to read and interpret civil plans and specifications Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills Valid driver's license
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary:
$90,000-$130,000 per year, based on experience + Project Bonus Incentives 401(k) retirement plan Health benefits Full-time, year-round position
