We work closely with our clients to create custom plans that meet their needs, considering factors such as zoning regulations, building codes, and environmental concerns. We are dedicated to quality, and we take a hands-on approach to every project, overseeing every aspect of the construction process from start to finish. This includes coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, handling permits and inspections and ensuring that the project stays on track and on budget. About the Position On a given day, you may be conducting site walks, preparing conceptual and detailed estimates, coordinating bid packages, reviewing pricing with subcontractors and suppliers, collaborating with design staff, helping develop contract documentation, assisting with value engineering, and supporting project managers with change order pricing during construction. This is a full-time, in-office position working closely with our architects, project managers, and construction team on residential remodeling and light commercial projects throughout the Bay Area. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Participate in preconstruction meetings and project planning. Review design drawings, specifications, and site conditions to prepare accurate and competitive estimates. Prepare and manage estimates from early conceptual budgeting through final construction contract pricing. Create, review, and update project schedules and Gantt charts. Review estimates for accuracy, completeness, and coordination with project documentation. Collaborate with design and construction staff to support thorough and accurate construction contracts. Continuously improve estimating systems, workflows, and historical cost tracking. Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend value engineering alternatives. Participate in project handoffs with design and construction teams. Assist with change order pricing throughout construction. Maintain and analyze estimated versus actual project costs and contribute to the development of historical cost databases. Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants. Qualifications High-end residential remodeling and light commercial construction experience on projects ranging from under $100K to $4M+. Experience reading and interpreting schematic design through completed construction documents. 10+ years of experience estimating residential and/or commercial construction projects. Experience with remodels, additions, and ground-up construction. Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and local building codes. Strong organizational skills with close attention to detail, accuracy, and schedules. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to collaborate and negotiate effectively with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams. Proactive and conscientious approach to work. Ability to synthesize and analyze information effectively. Bachelor's degree desired, or equivalent combination of experience and education. Experience with quantity takeoffs, budgeting, and construction cost analysis. Proficiency with Excel, ProEst, Procore, Smartsheet, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, or similar industry software. Familiarity with construction project management processes is desirable. Experience working in a design-build or architectural environment is a plus. Clean driving record and ability to travel to local job sites using your own vehicle. Spanish language proficiency is a plus. Location Primarily based in our Redwood City office, with some travel to Bay Area job sites. Compensation Competitive compensation ranging from approximately $110,000-$140,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and overall fit. We are an equal opportunity employer.
