Lawson SSP Group, LLC's Special Projects team is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Plumbing & Mechanical Piping Estimator with an entrepreneurial mindset. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to play a key role in developing new business and delivering high-quality estimates and proposals. Our team focuses on rapid response work and fast-track construction projects, ranging from service retrofits and repairs to mid-sized construction jobs. Success in this role requires strong analytical thinking, precision, and the ability to turn complex project details into clear, competitive proposals. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed takeoffs using Trimble Autobid Mechanical Evaluate bid opportunities and identify high-value pursuits Attend job walks and assess existing field conditions Download and review plans, specifications, and contract documents in detail Solicit and manage pricing from vendors and subcontractors Identify scope gaps, design conflicts, and value engineering opportunities Analyze project risks in collaboration with the Special Projects Manager Review vendor proposals for completeness and compliance Develop clear, comprehensive proposal packages, including scope, inclusions, and exclusions Maintain strong relationships with local vendors to ensure competitive and timely pricing Follow up with clients after bid submission Lead hand-off meetings from Estimating to Operations to ensure scope alignment Support project teams with change order pricing Provide bid status updates in production meetings Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, facilities, and general contractors Track bids, maintain pipeline visibility, and support sales forecasting Assist with RFP/RFQ responses in collaboration with the Sales Team Communicate consistently to develop and secure new business opportunities Qualifications & Experience 5+ years of experience estimating plumbing and mechanical systems Strong ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications High level of accuracy and attention to detail Solid understanding of mechanical systems and conceptual estimating Proficiency in Trimble Autobid, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Professional, collaborative, and growth-oriented mindset Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)

Salary:

Based on qualifications and experience. The starting pay range is $33.00 - $35.00 per hour. This position is non-exempt. Lawson SSP Group, LLC complies with California pay transparency requirements. Compensation is determined based on experience, skills, certifications, and overall qualifications.

Schedule:

Full-time, Monday through Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30

PM Work Location:

In-person position based in Sacramento, California.
