Job Description

We're seeking a Senior Electrical Cost Estimator with estimating experience ranging in size from $5M-$10B to support our projects and clients across the country. The types of projects include utility, substation, distribution, transmission, highway, and other transportation projects. You'll review design documents, proposals, specifications, drawings, attend design development meetings, assess the risk, and cost impacts required to develop the estimates. You'll work with a knowledgeable and supportive team as you prepare estimates by reviewing and comprehending scope documents, developing project work breakdown structures, calculating complete scope of work take-offs, assist contracts staff with statements of work for subcontractors and vendors, apply construction means and methods, calculate indirect field and owner's costs, and meeting necessary deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop capital cost estimates for utility, transmission, distribution, substation, and transportation projects.
  • Review contractor proposals for various procurement types.
  • Review and validate change orders.
  • Interface with external clients in the presentation of capital costs.
  • Maintain organized and detailed files, project records, and logs.
  • Attend project meetings as required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 10-15 years of electrical field experience in utility, substation, distribution, or transmission construction required.
  • Progressive and successful cost estimating experience in substation and high-voltage projects..
  • Understanding of substation configurations, SCADA, and protection equipment.
  • Provide constructability and cost estimates for projects that lack detailed design but can leverage experience and industry standards to support our client's initiatives.
  • Understanding of the relationship between cost, risk and schedule.
  • Proficient use of MS Office products, HCSS (HeavyBid), Sage, or InEight estimating software and BlueBeam. Ideally, you'll also have:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as a CEP, CCP, PMP, or CCM are a plus.
