ESTIMATOR - CIVIL / GRADING
Confidential Search | San Diego County, CA | On-Site | Direct Hire Hiring on behalf of an established Southern California infrastructure contractor. The employer is disclosed to candidates who move forward.
THE ROLE
Estimate large-scale civil and grading work: mass excavation, earthwork, site development and the paving and underground scopes that come with it. You own bids from takeoff through submission and stay involved once the job is awarded.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Read plans, specifications and geotechnical reports and build a complete scope Run earthwork take-offs and cut and fill analysis in digital takeoff software Price grading, excavation, import and export, site concrete and paving scopes Solicit and level subcontractor and supplier quotes Build and submit competitive bid packages on schedule Walk sites and attend pre-bid meetings to catch conditions the plans do not show Hand off awarded work to operations and support budgets, buyout and change orders Track bid results and actual costs to sharpen future pricing
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
5+ years estimating heavy civil, grading or earthwork projects Comfortable pricing large-scale mass grading and site development Digital takeoff and earthwork modeling software experience Strong Excel; scheduling software a plus Able to read civil plans, cross sections and geotechnical reports Public works or private development experience in Southern California Degree in construction management or civil engineering preferred; equivalent field experience considered
COMPENSATION
$105,000+ base depending on experience, plus medical, dental and vision, 401(k) with company match, and paid vacation, holiday and sick time.
