Full Job Description Job Summary :
As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in accurately assessing project costs, preparing bids, and collaborating with various departments, both internal and external, to ensure successful project outcomes. Your expertise will contribute to the growth and success of our company in delivering top-quality trim and hard surface flooring solutions to our clients.
Duties and Responsibilities :
1.
Project Evaluation:
Review architectural plans, specifications, and other project documents to thoroughly understand the scope and requirements of each residential construction project. 2.
Cost Analysis:
Analyze the scope of work and identify the materials, labor, equipment, and other resources required for trim and hard surface flooring installations. 3.
Bid Preparation:
Prepare comprehensive and competitive project bids that accurately reflect the estimated costs involved, ensuring profitability while remaining competitive in the market. 4.
Material Takeoffs:
Perform accurate material takeoffs based on project plans and specifications, collaborating closely with suppliers to secure the best possible pricing. 5.
Vendor and Supplier Relations:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and vendors to ensure the availability of quality materials and favorable pricing. 6.
Collaboration:
Work closely with project managers, architects, designers, and other stakeholders to address any questions, clarifications, or modifications related to estimates and bids. 7.
Value Engineering:
Identify opportunities for cost-saving measures and value engineering solutions without compromising the quality and integrity of the project. 8.
Estimate Documentation:
Maintain well-organized and detailed records of estimates, takeoffs, bids, and related documents. 9.
Market Research:
Stay updated on industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and new products to ensure accurate and up-to-date estimates. 10.
Budget Management:
Assist project managers in monitoring project budgets and costs, offering insights and recommendations for cost control. 11.
Continuous Improvement:
Contribute to the refinement of estimating processes and methodologies to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications:
1.
Experience:
A minimum of five years of experience in estimating for residential construction, specifically in trim and hard surface flooring installations 2.
Construction Knowledge:
Strong understanding of residential construction processes, materials, and techniques, with a focus on trim and hard surface flooring. 3. Attention to
Detail:
Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all estimates and bid preparations. 4.
Technical Proficiency:
Proficient in using estimating software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite, RFMS, Adobe, and Dropbox. 5.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with various stakeholders. 6.
Problem-Solving:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address challenges in estimating and bidding processes. 7.
Time Management:
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines. 8.
Negotiation Skills:
Effective negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing from suppliers and vendors. 9.
Team Player:
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, contributing to the overall success of projects. 10.
Degree/Certification:
A degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
