In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with structural steel projects, ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards. Your expertise will help drive project success from initial bid to final delivery, contributing to our reputation for excellence in construction and steel fabrication. Duties Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for structural steel projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and project requirements. Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam to develop comprehensive bids and proposals. Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to review project scope, identify potential risks, and optimize pricing strategies. Negotiate contracts and pricing terms with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to secure the best value for the company. Conduct site visits to assess construction conditions, verify measurements, and gather information necessary for precise estimating. Monitor project budgets and perform cost control analysis throughout the project lifecycle to ensure profitability. Assist in contract review and manage change orders to reflect scope adjustments while maintaining cost efficiency. Requirements Proven experience in construction estimating, specifically within structural steel or heavy industrial projects. Strong proficiency with Bluebeam for document markup and review; experience with HeavyBid or similar estimating software is highly preferred. Solid understanding of construction management principles, contracts, and project management processes. Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with suppliers and subcontractors. Familiarity with construction site operations, safety standards, and on-site conditions impacting steel fabrication or installation. Knowledge of cost control techniques, pricing strategies, and budget management within the construction industry.
