Chapala Iron & Manufacturing is a family-owned custom steel fabrication company specializing in high-end structural steel, ornamental iron, architectural metals, gates, railings, staircases, and one-of-a-kind custom fabrication. We're looking for someone who doesn't just estimate jobs—they own them. This position is ideal for an experienced estimator/project manager who enjoys working directly with customers, architects, contractors, field installers, and fabricators while keeping projects moving from award through installation. If you love solving problems, managing people, and building impressive work, we'd like to talk. What You'll Do Estimate structural steel and ornamental iron projects Read architectural and structural plans Perform material takeoffs Price labor, fabrication, installation and subcontractors Prepare professional proposals and bid packages Manage awarded projects from kickoff through completion Coordinate shop drawings with detailing staff Schedule fabrication and field installation Communicate with customers, general contractors, architects and engineers Visit job sites as needed Lead installers and subcontractors Solve problems before they become expensive Keep projects profitable and on schedule Build long-term customer relationships We're Looking For Someone Who Has 5+ years of experience estimating and managing structural steel or ornamental iron projects Understands fabrication and installation—not just estimating Can confidently communicate with owners, contractors, architects and field crews Is highly organized and self-motivated Takes ownership rather than waiting for direction Enjoys fast-paced custom work Can prioritize multiple projects at once Has strong leadership and communication skills Wants to grow with a company rather than simply punch a clock Preferred Experience Structural steel Ornamental iron Miscellaneous metals Custom residential projects Commercial steel fabrication Bluebeam AutoCAD Autodesk Inventor (preferred) Microsoft Office Construction scheduling Job costing Compensation $100,000-$120,000+ depending on experience For the right person, compensation is negotiable.
