Position Summary:

Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures Establish and maintain tendering process, and conduct negotiations

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years of commercial construction estimating experience. Strong preference for experience in cast-in-place concrete construction. Previous experience mentoring, supervising, or managing estimators. Strong understanding of commercial construction plans, specifications, and contract documents. Demonstrated ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs and develop detailed project estimates. Strong understanding of production rates and how they translate into labor, equipment, material, and project cost assumptions. Proficiency with standard construction estimating software. Experience with Pro-Est is a plus. Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with commercial general contractors. Ability to identify and clearly communicate value engineering opportunities. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects, bids, and deadlines simultaneously. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications:

Commercial cast-in-place concrete estimating experience. Experience working directly with commercial general contractors. Established relationships within the commercial construction industry. Experience with negotiated work, design-assist, or preconstruction services. Experience developing or improving estimating processes and systems. Experience managing or leading an estimating department.
