Full Job Description Fire Alarm System Estimator Location:
Golden, CO Job Overview Vulcan Fire is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Fire Alarm System Estimator to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a critical part in the success of our projects by evaluating fire alarm system requirements, developing accurate cost estimates, and preparing competitive bids for a wide range of facilities throughout Colorado. The ideal candidate has a strong technical understanding of fire alarm systems, in-depth knowledge of IFC and NFPA codes , exceptional analytical ability, and strong communication skills to collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Evaluation & Scope Development Review project specifications, construction drawings, and applicable codes to determine the full scope of fire alarm system installations. Identify system requirements, potential challenges, and compliance considerations early in the estimating process. C ost Estimation & Bidding Accurately estimate material, labor, equipment, and overhead costs. Prepare detailed, well-organized bids and proposals that align with project requirements and company standards. Ensure pricing remains competitive while maintaining quality and compliance. Vendor & Internal Coordination Work closely with vendors and suppliers to obtain current pricing, product options, and lead times. Provide technical input and cost guidance to the sales and project management teams. Client Communication Engage with clients to clarify project needs, answer technical questions, and clearly present proposed fire alarm solutions. Support pre-construction discussions and revisions as needed. Documentation & Process Improvement Maintain accurate records of estimates, proposals, and related correspondence. Stay current with industry trends, products, and changes to codes and regulations, incorporating updates into estimating practices to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
2+ years of experience in fire alarm system estimating preferred.
Technical Expertise:
Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, components, installation practices, and relevant codes (IFC & NFPA).
Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. High attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines effectively.
Software Proficiency:
Proficient in Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite , with experience developing detailed cost breakdowns and professional proposals.
Team Collaboration:
Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
