An Estimator provides cost estimates for a project, based on an evaluation of the materials, labor, time and equipment needed to complete the project. May specialize in many aspects of construction or in manufacturing and design industries.
Front Range Industrial Inc. is a locally owned and operated steel fabrication and erection company specializing in structural steel, miscellaneous steel, architectural/ornamental steel, railings, stairs, and custom steel fabrication . We are a growing company looking for an experienced Estimator to join our team.
THE POSITION
We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Estimator who understands the steel industry and can accurately estimate projects from plans and specifications. This is a hands-on position where you will work closely with our customers, general contractors, project managers, and fabrication team to develop competitive and accurate bids.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Review architectural, structural, and fabrication drawings and specifications Perform material takeoffs and develop accurate project estimates Estimate labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project costs Prepare detailed and competitive bids and proposals Solicit and evaluate pricing from vendors and subcontractors Communicate with general contractors, customers, engineers, and vendors Identify project scope, exclusions, potential problems, and areas of risk Assist with bid negotiations and project turnover after award Maintain organized estimating records and bid tracking Work with our fabrication and field teams to ensure estimates are realistic and achievable Follow up on submitted bids and maintain strong customer relationships In person job walks
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous estimating experience in steel fabrication, structural steel, miscellaneous metals, or construction Ability to read and understand architectural and structural drawings Strong understanding of steel fabrication and installation processes Ability to perform accurate material and labor takeoffs Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Excellent communication and customer-service skills Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Proficient with Microsoft Office Experience with estimating/takeoff software is a plus Construction or steel fabrication field experience is highly valued
