Construction Estimator Location:
Stamford, CT Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail‑oriented Estimator to join our growing construction team in Albany. This is a key, in‑person role responsible for developing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mid‑ to high‑rise residential and commercial office projects. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical estimating experience, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to influence project success from preconstruction through award. This position offers long‑term stability, exposure to complex projects, and the opportunity to work closely with leadership, subcontractors, and ownership teams in a fast‑paced, team‑driven environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare comprehensive and accurate cost estimates covering materials, labor, equipment, subcontracting, and general conditions for multiple contract types. Perform detailed quantity takeoffs, cost modeling, and value engineering analyses. Develop, review, and define subcontractor scopes of work to ensure accurate pricing and full coverage. Solicit, analyze, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier bids to secure best overall value, not just lowest cost. Prepare and present clear, well‑organized estimates and bid summaries for internal review and client proposals. Maintain and update estimating databases, cost codes, and pricing benchmarks to support future bids. Ensure full compliance with project specifications, bid invitations, and contractual Statements of Work. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 7-10 years of estimating experience, preferably with a general contractor handling complex, ground‑up projects. Advanced estimating skills, including value engineering, cost analysis, and risk assessment. Strong ability to read, interpret, and organize construction drawings and technical specifications. Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software; strong overall Microsoft Office skills required. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Preferred Experience Experience in multifamily residential, commercial office, real estate development, or mixed‑use projects. Experience with ground‑up construction, site development, tenant improvements, and fit‑out work. Familiarity with preconstruction, bidding strategy, RFP responses, and business development support. Experience coordinating with project management and construction supervision teams. OSHA certification is a plus. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Stamford, CT.
