Job Description

Cost Estimator 5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars A leading manufacturer of structural precast concrete building solutions, is seeking a Cost Estimator to support preconstruction and bidding efforts for commercial and infrastructure projects throughout the Northeast. The Cost Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates by analyzing project drawings, specifications, and bid documents. This role works closely with Sales, Engineering, and Project Management to ensure bids reflect realistic production, material, and erection costs while protecting company margins. This is a technical, revenue-driving position within a manufacturing-based construction environment. Key Responsibilities
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and bid packages
  • Perform detailed material takeoffs for precast panels, beams, embeds, connections, and related components
  • Develop accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, freight, and erection
  • Analyze production methods and plant capacities when preparing bids
  • Prepare and submit competitive proposals within required timelines
  • Coordinate with engineering and drafting teams to clarify scope
  • Work with sales and operations to align pricing strategy
  • Identify value engineering opportunities
  • Maintain cost history databases for future bid reference
  • Interface with customers and general contractors regarding scope and pricing questions Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field, preferred
  • 3+ years of estimating experience in precast concrete, structural concrete, or heavy civil construction
  • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and specifications
  • Experience performing detailed material takeoffs
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with estimating software (Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar preferred)
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a precast manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of PCI standards
  • Understanding of erection sequencing and logistics
  • Familiarity with production-driven cost structures Key Attributes
