Job Description

Southland Construction, Inc. is seeking a Roadway and Utility Estimator to join our growing team in Apopka, FL. This full-time, on-site role plays a key part in delivering competitive and accurate bids for heavy highway and utility construction projects. You will work closely with the Chief Estimator and project teams to develop detailed estimates and support successful project execution. What You'll Do Analyze project plans and specifications to develop scopes of work using HCSS Prepare detailed and accurate quantity takeoffs for earthwork, grading, base, storm drainage, water mains, force mains, gravity sewer, and related work Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure full project compliance Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and leadership to produce complete and competitive bids Support the preconstruction process from bid preparation through submission What We're Looking For Experience in construction estimating, quantity takeoffs, and reading plans and specifications Familiarity with HCSS or similar estimating/takeoff software Knowledge of heavy highway, roadway, and underground utility construction practices Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail Effective communication and teamwork skills Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines Preferred Qualifications Experience with FDOT projects Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) Relevant certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) We are open to candidates with varying levels of experience who are eager to grow and develop within the role.
