Estimator for Underground Utilities

Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Underground Estimator to join our dynamic construction team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for accurately assessing project costs, preparing detailed estimates, and collaborating closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors. Duties Review project plans, specifications, and scope of work to develop comprehensive underground construction estimates Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam to prepare accurate cost proposals and bid packages Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs from drawings and blueprints for underground infrastructure projects Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to negotiate pricing and secure competitive bids Monitor project budgets throughout the bidding process and adjust estimates as needed for accuracy Assist in contract review and support contract negotiations to ensure favorable terms for the company Support project management teams by providing cost control insights, tracking expenses, and updating estimates during project execution Maintain organized records of all estimating documents, contracts, and correspondence for audit purposes Skills Proficiency in construction estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam is essential Strong knowledge of construction estimating principles specific to underground infrastructure projects Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing with subcontractors and suppliers Experience with construction site activities, safety protocols, and site management practices Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications accurately Solid understanding of contracts, project management processes, and cost control strategies Effective communication skills for collaborating with internal teams, clients, and external partners Demonstrated experience in construction management or related roles within heavy civil or underground construction environments This role is ideal for candidates eager to leverage their estimating expertise in a fast-paced construction setting.
