Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team and drive the success of our commercial construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing blueprints and technical drawings, and collaborating closely with project managers, clients, and suppliers. Your expertise in construction estimating software, material cost analysis, and project budgeting will be essential to delivering competitive bids and managing project costs effectively. Responsibilities Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately estimate material requirements and labor costs. Develop comprehensive project estimates using estimating software such as HeavyBid or similar platforms, ensuring precision in cost calculations. Prepare detailed bid proposals that include pricing strategies, cost management plans, and risk assessments. Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers through effective negotiation to secure favorable terms and pricing. Manage project budgets from initial estimation through project completion, ensuring adherence to cost controls and minimizing overruns. Conduct site visits to gather on-the-ground insights, review construction progress, and verify quantities for accurate estimation. Utilize construction management software like Bluebeam and other digital tools for blueprint review, markup sharing, and documentation management. Monitor material costs by estimating requirements from blueprints, reviewing market trends, and coordinating with vendors for competitive pricing. Lead the review of construction drawings to identify potential challenges early in the process and propose solutions that optimize costs. Maintain clear communication with clients regarding project scope, estimates, changes, and cost adjustments throughout the bidding process. Qualifications Proven experience as a construction estimator with a strong background in commercial construction projects. Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Xactimate or similar platforms. Solid understanding of construction management software tools and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word). Exceptional blueprint reading skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings accurately. Experience in managing projects as a construction estimator with a focus on cost control and budget estimation. Strong negotiation skills for engaging with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to achieve favorable outcomes. Knowledge of material cost estimating techniques and ability to estimate quantities from blueprints efficiently. Construction site experience is highly desirable for better project understanding and accurate estimations. Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration. Ability to analyze construction drawings thoroughly while reviewing specifications for potential issues or opportunities for savings.
