Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Asphalt Construction Estimator to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive project estimates for asphalt paving construction projects. Your expertise will help drive successful project bids, foster strong client relationships, and ensure cost-effective project execution. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to commercial and residential projects, utilizing your construction industry knowledge and estimating skills to deliver exceptional results. Duties Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately interpret project scope and material requirements. Develop detailed cost estimates for asphalt paving projects, including material costs, labor, equipment, and subcontractor expenses using estimating software such as HeavyBid or equivalent tools. Analyze project plans to determine quantities of materials needed and identify potential cost-saving opportunities through effective pricing strategies. Collaborate with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to negotiate prices, scope adjustments, and project timelines ensuring mutual satisfaction. Manage multiple project estimates simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and adherence to deadlines. Utilize construction management software for document review, markup, and communication of project details. Monitor ongoing projects' budgets through cost management practices, ensuring projects stay within financial targets while maintaining quality standards. Requirements Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the asphalt or heavy civil construction industry. Extensive knowledge of construction drawing review, blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and estimating material requirements from blueprints. Demonstrated ability in cost control, material cost estimating, pricing strategies, and estimation for commercial construction projects. Excellent negotiation skills coupled with effective client communication abilities to foster positive relationships. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Excel spreadsheets for data analysis and presentation purposes. Construction site experience combined with a solid understanding of construction management processes and project management principles. Ability to interpret technical specifications accurately while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in estimating construction project budgets and material requirements.
