Duties Review and interpret detailed construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately estimate material and labor requirements. Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid, Xactimate, and other construction management tools to develop comprehensive project budgets. Conduct thorough cost analysis including material costs, labor rates, equipment needs, and subcontractor quotations. Prepare detailed bid proposals by pricing materials, labor, equipment, and overhead costs with precision. Manage multiple estimating projects simultaneously while maintaining strict deadlines and quality standards. Collaborate with clients and vendors through negotiation to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms. Monitor project costs during execution to ensure adherence to budgets and implement cost control measures as needed. Review construction drawings for accuracy and completeness; interpret technical details for precise estimation. Assist in managing project timelines by providing accurate cost forecasts and resource planning. Communicate effectively with project teams to clarify scope changes or design modifications impacting estimates. Requirements Proven experience in construction estimating within the commercial construction industry, demonstrating a strong understanding of project budgeting from start to finish. Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Xactimate, along with construction management software tools. Excellent blueprint reading skills coupled with the ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications. Strong knowledge of construction industry standards including cost management, material estimation, and pricing strategies. Skilled in managing projects as a construction estimator with a focus on accuracy and efficiency. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) for creating spreadsheets and detailed reports. Effective negotiation skills for securing competitive bids and managing client relationships. Construction site experience is highly desirable to better understand on-the-ground realities impacting estimates. Exceptional communication skills for collaborating with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
