Overview An established heavy civil construction contractor is seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to support the successful delivery of infrastructure and transportation projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with experience estimating roadways, highways, site development, utilities, drainage, earthworks, and paving projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing competitive and accurate project estimates while working closely with operations teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients throughout the bidding process. Key Responsibilities Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, permits, and bid documentation. Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects. Develop accurate labour, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing. Solicit and evaluate quotations from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors. Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs as required. Maintain bid tracking records and estimating databases. Prepare bid submissions and supporting documentation. Manage requests for information, bid clarifications, addenda, and revisions. Analyse subcontractor and supplier proposals. Prepare bid comparison and cost analysis reports. Support project handover activities between estimating and operations teams. Assist with procurement planning and scope development. Participate in post-bid reviews and subcontractor negotiations. Support project teams with change order pricing and cost management activities. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and industry stakeholders. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline. Minimum five years of estimating experience within heavy civil construction. Experience estimating roadway, highway, transportation, utility, site development, earthworks, drainage, or paving projects. Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and bidding procedures. Experience preparing quantity take-offs and detailed cost analyses. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organisational and time management abilities. Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites when required. Preferred Experience Experience supporting transportation or infrastructure projects for public or private sector clients. Familiarity with industry-standard estimating and quantity take-off software. Knowledge of earthworks, grading, drainage, utilities, roadway construction, and asphalt paving methodologies.
