Job Description Help for Job Description. Opens a new window. Structural Technologies, LLC has opening for Estimator 2 in Pompano Beach, FL. Leads the development of estimates. Estimates up to ten simultaneous projects (up to five as lead estimator and up to five as mentor) with a high degree of complexity, generally up to USD$10 million. Defines and quantifies scope of work and prepares comprehensive conceptual, budgetary, and construction cost estimates for projects. Drafts formal letters and other written communication to customers/owners. Ensures pricing of materials and subcontracts are completed timely and accurately for assigned projects. Maintains involvement in change order process. Maintains involvement in uncovering sales opportunities with prospective and existing customers. Performs light marketing and business development responsibilities to generate new business. Accurately organizes take-offs, bid items, estimate set-up sheets, quotes, and subcontractor comparisons. Prepares estimates by calculating various statistical data such as quantity take-offs, material price lists, labor costs per man-hour, and equipment costs and applying them to the complete scope of work. Provides assistance to the project manager throughout the project. Resolves cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information. Reviews design options and recommends best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials. Researches and reviews historical data (e.g. purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc.) and compiles summary reports to develop guidelines and precedence for future estimates. Creates preliminary Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules. Negotiates with and relays desired scope of work and deadlines to subcontractors and materials suppliers. Plans for safety within estimate buildup, addressing access, fall protection, costs, quantities of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and special training or certification requirements. Evaluate, quantify, and filter/capture specification requirements of moderate complexity within the estimate using at least a basic understanding of contract/subcontract Terms and Conditions (T&Cs). Must have Masters or foreign degree equivalent in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related and 6 months of experience as a Civil Engineer, Estimator, or related, including 6 months of experience with reading construction plans and blueprints; 6 months of experience with using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software; 6 months of experience with computerized estimating (e.g. estimating software and/or spreadsheets); and U.S. Drivers License or eligible.
