Base Salary + Commission Job Summary The Commercial Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, detailed, and timely cost estimates for commercial garage door projects, including installations, retrofits, and repairs. This role supports the Commercial Sales Team by reviewing plans, specifications, and job site conditions to develop precise proposals that align with customer requirements and company standards. The Estimator will collaborate closely with Project Managers, Commercial Installers, and customers to ensure estimates are accurate, competitive, and profitable. Essential Job Duties Estimating & Proposal Development Review project specifications, architectural drawings, and job site conditions to determine accurate material, labor, and equipment needs. Prepare detailed bids and proposals for commercial garage door installations, operators, and related products. Ensure all estimates include correct sizes, windload requirements, color, insulation, glass options, operators, and other projectspecific details. Collaborate with the Commercial Sales Team to ensure proposals meet customer expectations and project deadlines. Provide alternative solutions when needed to maximize costeffectiveness and customer satisfaction. Project Coordination Communicate directly with builders, contractors, and customers to clarify project scope and requirements. Work closely with Commercial Installers and Service Technicians to confirm installation feasibility and field conditions. Coordinate with suppliers to obtain accurate material pricing and availability. Maintain organized records of project specifications, estimates, and correspondence for reference and tracking. Data & Pricing Management Input and maintain accurate estimate data in the company's tracking systems. Manage override pricing, special discounts, and projectspecific pricing approvals with Upper Management. Maintain and update builder price sheets for commercial accounts. Support the Accounting Department by verifying data accuracy for invoicing and assisting with any discrepancies. Follow-Up & Tracking Track all active bids using the company's bid calendar and bid tracker. Conduct timely follow-ups with customers and contractors to determine project award status. Document reasons for lost bids to improve future proposals and strengthen customer relationships. Required Skills & Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, or related field preferred. Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial estimating, construction, or a related field. Experience in the garage door industry or familiarity with commercial installations is strongly preferred. Technical Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications. Familiarity with mechanical and electrical components related to garage doors and operators. Strong aptitude for mathematics and cost analysis. Soft Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously. Collaborative mindset to work effectively with Sales, Installers, and Management. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Officebased role with occasional visits to job sites for assessments. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods and work on a computer for extended durations. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally. Valid driver's license required.
