About Us Palmer Electric Company is a well-established electrical contractor specializing in high-quality residential and commercial service work throughout Central Florida. We take pride in our reputation for integrity, reliability, customer service, and craftsmanship. As our service division continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Service Estimator to join our team and support projects valued up to approximately $200,000. Position Overview The Electrical Service Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for residential and light commercial electrical service projects. This role focuses on developing detailed scopes of work, preparing material and labor estimates, and communicating directly with customers throughout the estimating and approval process. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically knowledgeable, and capable of developing clear, organized, and code-compliant estimates while maintaining strong customer communication and professionalism. This position is not responsible for project management; however, the estimator will maintain communication with the field supervisor after project approval to help ensure the integrity and intent of the estimate and scope of work remain intact during execution. Key Responsibilities Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for residential and commercial electrical service projects valued up to approximately $200,000 Develop detailed scopes of work, labor estimates, and material lists Review drawings, specifications, site conditions, and customer requirements Perform material and labor takeoffs Communicate directly with customers regarding project scope, pricing, revisions, and approvals Solicit and evaluate vendor and supplier pricing when necessary Coordinate with field supervisors and operations staff to ensure clear project handoff after approval Provide intermittent support and clarification during project execution to maintain estimate integrity and scope alignment Evaluate field conditions and assist in developing practical, code-compliant solutions when unforeseen conditions arise Maintain estimating databases, labor units, and historical pricing information Ensure all estimates align with NEC requirements, local codes, project specifications, and company standards Qualifications Minimum 5 years of electrical estimating experience, preferably in residential and commercial service work Strong understanding of residential and commercial electrical systems Strong working knowledge of NEC requirements, local codes, and industry standards Proficiency with estimating software such as Accubid, McCormick, or equivalent platforms Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with operations and field personnel Preferred Qualifications Journeyman or Master Electrician license is a plus, but not required Previous field experience or service operations experience highly preferred Experience in fast-paced service environments with varying project scopes and timelines What We Offer Competitive salary based on experience Company vehicle and fuel card provided Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) retirement plan Paid time off and company holidays Opportunities for professional growth and advancement Stable, team-oriented work environment with long-term growth potential Why Join Palmer Electric?
