Position Summary The Construction Estimator is responsible for assessing property damage and preparing accurate estimates for residential and commercial restoration projects involving water, fire, storm, and environmental damage. The role develops scopes of work, prepares cost estimates using industry software, and coordinates with project managers, technicians, and subcontractors to ensure projects are executed efficiently and profitably. The Construction Estimator works closely with insurance adjusters, customers, and internal teams to convert estimates into approved projects while ensuring documentation accuracy, budget control, and compliance with restoration industry standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare detailed estimates using Xactimate and restoration estimating platforms Develop scopes of work including demolition, mitigation, and reconstruction activities Submit estimates to insurance carriers and adjusters for approval Convert estimates into approved projects through effective communication and documentation Coordinate with project managers, technicians, and subcontractors regarding project scope Monitor project budgets and review job cost reports Assist with scheduling manpower and materials for assigned projects Track project progress and address deviations from scope or schedule Prepare project documentation including contracts, supply lists, and change orders Maintain accurate documentation in job management platforms (DASH, Contractor Connection, etc.) Ensure projects comply with IICRC standards and safety regulations Maintain strong working relationships with customers, adjusters, and vendors Participate in emergency response or after-hours calls Core Competencies Construction cost estimating and budgeting Construction and building repair standards and terminology Restoration estimating and damage assessment Project budgeting and cost control Insurance claim estimating processes Customer relationship management Restoration operations knowledge OSHA safety regulations related to construction and restoration Technical Skills Xactimate estimating software Job management systems (DASH, Contractor Connection, Code Blue) Microsoft Office Suite Professional Skills Strong attention to detail Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously Strong written and verbal communication Experience 5+ years of experience in construction, restoration, or insurance estimating Experience using Xactimate or equivalent estimating software preferred Education High school diploma or GED required Associate or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, or related field preferred Preferred Certifications
