Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team. This position will be responsible for preparing accurate, complete, and competitive cost estimates for commercial HVAC projects. This role ensures all bids are aligned with project requirements, company standards, and profitability goals. The Estimator works closely with Project Managers, field leadership, and vendors to support successful project awards and smooth project turnover. Level and compensation will be based on experience, qualifications and demonstrated capability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Reviews project specifications, drawings and bid content to determine scope of work. 2. Prepares detailed cost estimates for commercial HVAC projects, including equipment, material, labor, and subcontractor costs. 3. Performs material takeoffs and labor calculations. 4. Ensures all estimates comply with applicable codes, specifications, and industry standards. 5. Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for completeness and competitiveness. 6. Clarify scope with vendors to ensure alignment with project requirements. 7. Builds and maintains strong relationships with key vendors and subcontractors. 8. Participates in bid strategy discussions, including pricing approach and project risks. 9. Identifies scope gaps, design conflicts, and potential cost exposures. 10. Develops pricing strategies to maximize job profitability. 11. Attends pre-bid meetings and job walks as required. 12. Assists with estimate handoff to Project Managers to ensure clear understanding of scope and budget. 13. Prepares estimates for federal government contracts, including task orders and service task orders. 14. Develops and maintains RSMeans reports in accordance with contract requirements. 15. Networks within industry to identify opportunities. 16. Performs additional duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:
1. Previous experience as an estimator in HVAC and/or construction industry preferred. 2. Working knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, materials, and installation methods. 3. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and contract documents. 4. Must have previous experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office. 5. Experience with GordianRS MEANS
preferred. 6. Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills. 7. Effective communication skills and ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders. 8. Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously. 9. Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record and be able to obtain DBIDS for base access.Pay:
