Role:
Bolton Inc. is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator / Project Manager to support our construction division with accurate and competitive project bids and supervision. This role is responsible for analyzing plans, preparing cost estimates, and collaborating with field teams to ensure well-executed, on-budget construction projects. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of construction methods and materials, excellent analytical skills, and experience with both residential and commercial estimating & project managing. The Estimator / Project manager will manage bid preparation from start to finish, including evaluating project documents, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, identifying potential risks, and manage the project through it's entire life cycle. This role is key to supporting Bolton Inc.'s continued commitment to quality craftsmanship, safety, and community-driven service. Key Responsibilities Analyze project plans, drawings, and specifications to develop cost estimates Prepare detailed proposals, budgets, and timelines for bid submissions Solicit and review subcontractor and vendor quotes Identify project risks and value engineering opportunities and solutions Collaborate with internal teams Manage the schedule and all scopes of work for the entire life cycle of the project Track costs, change orders, and revise budgets and project forecasting as needed Maintain estimating databases and historical cost records Qualifications 5+ years of experience in construction estimating and project management Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and processes Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical documents, and specifications Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills Experience with civil, concrete, and infrastructure projects preferred Knowledge of Hawaiʻi-specific permitting or construction conditions a plus CAD, GIS, or 3D modeling familiarity for site planning a plus Previous estimating experience in civil construction (e.g., site work, grading, utilities, or concrete infrastructure) strongly preferred Must live on the West side of Big Island What We Offer Competitive hourly pay (DOE) Health, dental, and vision benefits (after eligibility period) Paid time off, holidays, and wellness days Career growth path A strong team culture that values accountability, respect, and craftsmanship
