Newport Industries is a growing custom manufacturing company specializing in precision machining, fabrication, welding, sheet metal, assembly, and custom-engineered solutions. We are seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Estimator to help bridge the gap between customer requirements, engineering, and production. This is not a traditional estimating role. The ideal candidate will play a key role in developing manufacturing strategies, creating Bills of Materials (BOMs), building routings, evaluating manufacturability, and ensuring projects are set up for success before they ever reach the shop floor. - Review customer drawings, specifications, and RFQs.
- Develop manufacturing plans and strategies for custom projects.
- Estimate labor, material, purchased components, and outside processing.
- Create accurate and profitable quotations.
- Support customer meetings and project discovery discussions.
- Conduct site visits and field measurements when required. Manufacturing Planning
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Create and maintain manufacturing routings.
- Determine manufacturing methods and production flow.
- Collaborate with fabrication, machining, welding, sheet metal, and assembly personnel to validate assumptions.
- Identify manufacturing risks before production begins.
- Ensure projects are fully defined before release to Engineering. Project Development
- Work closely with Sales, Engineering, and Production teams.
- Assist in conceptual project development.
- Communicate manufacturing intent and requirements to Engineering.
- Participate in design and manufacturability reviews.
- Help establish scalable estimating and pre-production processes. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience.
- Strong understanding of fabrication, machining, welding, sheet metal, assembly, or industrial manufacturing.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Experience working with ERP systems and Microsoft Office. Preferred Qualifications
- Previous estimating experience.
- Experience creating BOMs and manufacturing routings.
- Experience in a custom fabrication or job-shop environment.
- Familiarity with CNC machining, laser cutting, press brakes, welding, and assembly processes.
- Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Experience conducting site measurements and customer-facing project discussions. What Success Looks Like Successful candidates will:
