This role focuses on excavation, building concrete and site concrete. The Estimator will work closely with operations and leadership to deliver accurate, competitive, and well-documented estimates. The Estimator will report directly to the Senior Estimator for bid reviews, clarifications, and pricing strategy discussions. Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for residential, commercial, and industrial projects
- Estimate excavation, building concrete and site concrete scopes of work
- Analyze construction plans, specifications, addenda, and geotechnical reports
- Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost breakdowns
- Solicit, review, and level subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, and project risks
- Participate in bid review meetings with the Senior Estimator
- Respond to bid-related questions and clarifications
- Assist with value engineering and alternate pricing
- Maintain organized estimate files and bid documentation
- Support handoff from estimating to project management Required Qualifications
- Proven experience estimating heavy civil construction projects
- Experience estimating residential, commercial, and industrial work
- Direct experience using PlanSwift estimating software
- Direct experience using EarthWorks estimating software
- Strong understanding of earthwork production, concrete, and wet utilities
- Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, and utility plans
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple bids and meet tight deadlines Preferred Experience
- 5+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction
- Experience with mass grading and site development.
- Knowledge of regional pricing and local means
- Field experience or close coordination with operations teams Reporting Structure This position reports directly to the Senior Estimator and works closely with Project Managers, Operations, and Company Leadership.
