This role focuses on executing precise quantity takeoffs for civil engineering and structural components, specifically focusing on concrete and asphalt scopes. The ideal candidate will blend strong technical analytical skills with exceptional relationship-building capabilities to manage bids from initial document review through to a successful project handover.

Key Responsibilities & Duties Bid Document Review:

Thoroughly examine blueprints, specifications, RFP packages, and other bid documents to understand project requirements.

Quantity Takeoffs:

Perform accurate digital or manual quantity takeoffs for all elements of concrete and asphalt scopes.

Cost Estimation:

Utilize specialized estimating software to establish exact costs for labor, production materials, and machinery or equipment operations.

Subcontractor Management:

Solicit, track, and critically evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing to ensure comprehensive and competitive bid coverage.

Relationship Building:

Develop and maintain strong strategic partnerships with general contractors, engineers, developers, and subcontractors.

Proposal Writing:

Draft clearly structured, detailed estimates and written proposals outlining project inclusions, exclusions, and cost breakdowns.

Project Hand-off:

Manage the transition of awarded bids by coordinating a detailed hand-off process with the operations and project management teams.

Change Orders:

Collaborate with the designated Project Manager throughout the construction lifecycle to accurately price and track project change orders. Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)

Skills & Traits:

Self-motivated, energetic, and highly accurate with data.

Time Management:

Demonstrated ability to successfully prioritize, manage, and deliver multiple complex bidding projects under tight deadlines.

Tech Literacy:

Proficiency with industry-standard estimating and digital takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, Bid to Win, Earthworks, etc).

Communication:

Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills required to negotiate and network with external partners. Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves) Experience specifically estimating concrete, paving, or civil infrastructure projects.
