Kirchner Building Centers (formerly Aviston Lumber) is looking for a detail-oriented Materials Estimator to prepare accurate estimates for projects by gathering information and analyzing materials. This position requires close collaboration with contractors and their customers to ensure accurate estimates are provided within the timeframe agreed upon. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for preparing material take-offs for residential and agricultural projects, pricing special order materials and ordering materials for successful quotes. In this role, you will work closely with our customers and sales team to understand their needs and provide expert advice on the best materials for their projects. Your ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships will be essential in ensuring customer satisfaction and driving sales growth. This is a full time, in-person position, located in Aviston, IL.Benefits Offered:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Understand the project and its requirements. Determine important factors that determine the cost of the project. Gather first-hand information from the customer, contractor and job sites. Create detailed material lists using professional estimating software to generate an accurate estimate. Facilitate reviews and/or scope changes with customer/contractors. Communicate changes effectively and revise estimates as needed. Collaborate with customers to understand their needs and provide expert advice on materials selection Budgeting and estimating for complex projects. Analyze building plans to generate accurate estimates. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Proven experience as an estimator or similar position. Strong math and computer skills with analytical mindset. Must have solid working knowledge of retail building materials, lumber, hardware products and building materials as well as additional operations and software systems associated with the industry. Demonstrate excellent leadership and problem-solving skills along with the ability to manage with limited supervision. Ability to review and comprehend job specifications to estimate cost of materials. Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills. High level or accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
