Full-time Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to lead preconstruction and estimating efforts across a variety of commercial construction projects. This individual will play a critical role in developing accurate, competitive estimates while partnering closely with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients throughout the preconstruction process.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and bid documents to develop a comprehensive understanding of project scope and requirements Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analysis for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work Lead the preparation of conceptual, schematic, and final estimates, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness Evaluate and level subcontractor bids, negotiate pricing, and assist in drafting and awarding subcontracts Develop and maintain project budgets, including providing updates as design and scope evolve Identify potential risks, cost drivers, and value engineering opportunities during the preconstruction phase Collaborate with project managers, field teams, and design professionals to align estimating assumptions with execution strategies Manage multiple estimates simultaneously, prioritizing deadlines and maintaining a high level of accuracy under tight timelines Stay current on market trends, material pricing, and labor conditions to inform estimating strategies
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably within commercial general contracting Strong expertise in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents Proven ability to develop accurate, detailed estimates across multiple project types and sizes Proficiency with OnScreen Takeoff and/or similar estimating software Solid understanding of construction delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, CM at Risk, etc.) Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, with experience working directly with subcontractors and clients Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent field experience)
