Job Description
$95,000-$115,000 + Benefits, 401K, Hybrid, PTO and more! Our commercial general contracting firm is one of the most diversified builders in the Chicagoland area, delivering ground-up commercial construction and major renovation projects. We are known for our commitment to quality, safety, innovation, and delivering successful projects for our clients. Our corporate office in Des Plaines, IL is seeking a Senior Estimator to join our team. The Senior Estimator will coordinate and perform preconstruction activities while working closely with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors. This position is responsible for developing complete and accurate estimates for ground-up commercial construction projects, from initial plans and specifications through final bid submission.
Responsibilities:
Review and analyze blueprints, specifications, scopes of work, and other bid documents Perform detailed quantity take-offs for ground-up commercial construction projects Prepare accurate conceptual, preliminary, and final cost estimates Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers Analyze subcontractor and vendor proposals for scope, pricing, and exclusions Calculate labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs Develop competitive bids while maintaining appropriate project margins Identify cost-saving opportunities, project risks, and potential scope gaps Prepare formal proposals and bid submissions Work closely with project managers, clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors throughout the preconstruction process Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs Maintain current subcontractor, supplier, and pricing databases Assist with value engineering and alternative pricing options Prepare bid summaries and provide recommendations for pricing adjustments Maintain organized and accurate estimating documentationRequirements:
Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related degree preferred but not required 2+ years of commercial construction estimating experience MUST have experience estimating ground-up commercial construction projects Understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, labor, and subcontractor pricing Ability to read, understand, and analyze construction plans, blueprints, specifications, and scopes of work Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines Ability to work collaboratively with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teamsBenefits
