at Apex Glass Replacement Corp dba Apex Window Werks in Wheeling, Illinois, United States Job Description Apex Glass Replacement (Wheeling, IL) seeks a Cost Estimator responsible for conducting site evaluations, preparing and presenting accurate cost estimates and proposals for quality repair, installation and construction of windows, doors and other fixtures made of wood and comparable materials.

Specific duties include:

conducting on-site evaluations to assess existing conditions and identify installation requirements and cost factors; preparing and presenting detailed cost estimates and proposals to clients, clearly communicating project scope, pricing, and value in support of sales efforts; taking precise measurements and gathering technical specifications to support accurate estimates and material planning; monitoring project progress to ensure consistency with estimated scope, budget, and quality standards; collaborating with installation teams and project managers to resolve discrepancies and ensure client satisfaction; and maintaining records of estimates, measurements, and completed projects for analysis and reporting. Position requires regular in-state travel to client sites for evaluation purposes. Position requires a high school diploma, or foreign equivalent, plus 2 years of experience in the job offered or as a Carpenter or similar position working with wood or comparable materials. Must have 2 years of experience with each of the following: working in the window and door industry, including estimating repairs and installation of windows, doors, and related fixtures made of wood or comparable materials; applying measurement techniques and basic construction principles; identifying required products and parts to address customer needs and ensure accurate cost projections; reading blueprints and reviewing specifications to determine dimensions and required materials for construction, installation, and repair; translating and explaining technical information clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical audiences; working with a Customer Relation Management (CRM) system; and following established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
