Job Title:
Lead CNC Estimator Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Lead CNC Estimator for a first-shift position at a small, family-owned shop in Elkhart, IN. The role involves reviewing technical drawings and specifications, understanding customer requirements, and accurately assessing the necessary processes, machines, and timing for prospective jobs. This position plays a crucial part in driving revenue and motivating machinists to achieve key performance indicators. Responsibilities Review and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Assess and estimate requisite processes, machines, and timing for prospective jobs. Drive revenue and motivate machinists to meet key performance indicators. Report any machine problems to the Plant Manager. Utilize shop math, including Geometry and basic Trigonometry, and perform metric conversions. Work regularly with ERP/MRP systems. Read blueprints and interpret GD&T. Leverage experience with Horizontal Boring Mills, Mill-Turns, Vertical Mills, Manual Machinery, and more. Essential Skills 5+ years of machining experience with Mills, Manual Machinery, etc. 5+ years of machining experience specifically in job shops. Proficient computer skills, primarily with Excel and Word. Experience with ERP systems (specifically 'M1'). Knowledge of metal materials. Strong customer service skills for vendor communication. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience estimating new jobs and project planning. Ability to program CNC machinery using G&M code. Proficiency in AutoCAD software, such as Mastercam and Surfcam. Further education in CNC Machining or a related field. Work Environment This position is located in a small, family-owned T&D shop. The work environment promotes flexibility with start times, operating from 6:00 am to 3:30 pm on the first shift. The shop is equipped with various machinery including CNC machines, manual machines, and more, providing a diverse and engaging work setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elkhart, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
