Description Estimator About Fox Home Innovations Fox Home Innovations is a design-build remodeling company dedicated to delivering exceptional residential renovation experiences. We combine thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and strong client relationships to transform homes while creating a positive experience for our clients, trade partners, and team members. We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Estimator to join our growing team. This position plays a critical role in the success of our projects by developing accurate budgets, managing trade partner pricing, and ensuring projects are positioned for profitability before construction begins. Position Summary The Estimator serves as the primary resource for project budgeting and pre-construction planning throughout the design process. This individual works closely with designers, project managers, trade partners, suppliers, and clients to ensure projects are accurately scoped, competitively bid, and ready for successful execution. The ideal candidate possesses strong residential construction knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively while managing multiple projects. Key Responsibilities Estimating & Pre-Construction Conduct site visits and gather information necessary for accurate project estimates. Evaluate existing conditions and identify factors that may impact scope, budget, or construction success. Prepare detailed project estimates including labor, materials, subcontractor costs, permits, and other project expenses. Perform comprehensive material takeoffs across all construction divisions. Develop scopes of work for trade partners and suppliers. Solicit, review, and compare subcontractor and vendor bids. Verify pricing accuracy and ensure alignment with project requirements. Maintain current knowledge of residential construction methods, codes, and industry best practices. Design Collaboration Partner with designers throughout project development. Provide budget guidance and pricing options during the design phase. Review plans for constructability, completeness, and cost implications. Participate in final budget presentations and client approval meetings. Conduct final plan reviews before project handoff to production. Assist with field measurements and documentation of existing conditions. Trade Partner & Supplier Management Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers. Manage trade partner onboarding and qualification processes. Coordinate bid requests, estimate reviews, and project awards. Assemble bid packages and special-order materials including windows, doors, framing packages, specialty trim, and other construction materials. Production Support Provide complete project information during handoff to project management. Visit jobsites as needed to verify assumptions and improve estimating accuracy. Assist with change order pricing and cost analysis. Analyze completed projects to improve future estimating accuracy and profitability. Client Experience Support the delivery of an exceptional client experience throughout the pre-construction process. Assist in developing projects that align with client goals, budgets, and construction realities. Research products and materials that support project objectives. Administrative & Team Responsibilities Participate in company meetings and departmental planning sessions. Help improve estimating procedures and operational efficiencies. Maintain project documentation and estimating records. Support office operations as needed. Participate in trade shows, home shows, and marketing events when requested. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field preferred. Minimum of three years of residential construction experience. Experience preparing construction estimates and project budgets preferred. Knowledge & Skills Strong understanding of residential construction methods, materials, and trades. Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. Ability to read and interpret residential construction plans and specifications. Understanding of residential building codes and construction standards. Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Highly organized with strong time management skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word. Preferred Software Experience Buildertrend or similar construction management software. RIB CostX Takeoff software. Chief Architect or comparable design software. Additional Requirements Reliable transportation and ability to travel to jobsites, client homes, vendors, and showrooms as needed.
