Full Job Description Overview:
The Senior Estimator is primarily responsible for preparing accurate quotes for finished products while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. This role collaborates closely with Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, and Production Control to ensure profitability and effective project execution. The Senior Estimator also serves as a key point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and fostering strong customer relationships through exceptional service and support.
Responsibilities:
REPONSIBILITIES
Ability to read, interpret, and analyze engineering drawings, routers, bills of materials (BOMs), specifications, and other technical documentation. Ability to verify existing inventory levels, current quotations, and related data using company computer systems and software. Ability to obtain, evaluate, and compare quotations from customers, vendors, and suppliers. Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess engineering, production, and cost data to develop accurate estimates and pricing. Expert knowledge of manufacturing, machining, and production processes. Ability to evaluate and prioritize requests for quotations (RFQs) based on customer requirements, workload, deadlines, and business objectives. Ability to establish, maintain, and strengthen professional working relationships with customers and key stakeholders. Proficiency in CATIA and/or other industry-standard CAD and modeling software for reviewing designs, creating drafts, and supporting estimating activities.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Has the authority to stop production when quality concerns are identified to prevent nonconforming products from progressing through the manufacturing process. Maintains accurate records of quotations, including historical pricing data and quote win/loss metrics to support business analysis and continuous improvement. Collaborates with the Contract Specialist to verify the accuracy and validity of contracts and purchase orders, ensuring alignment with approved quotations and customer requirements. May be required to perform purchasing-related duties and serve as a backup to Supply Chain personnel as business needs dictate. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required to support departmental and organizational objectives.

When in the production or shop area, employees are required to comply with all safety policies and procedures, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as eye and hearing protection. The Senior Estimator is expected to model and promote safe work practices. In the office environment, employees are expected to maintain a clean, organized, and professional workspace. Occasional exposure to noise, moving machinery, and other manufacturing-related conditions may occur while visiting production areas.
