We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Estimator to join our growing commercial construction team. This candidate will be responsible for overseeing the estimating process from initial review through final proposal submission, ensuring accurate, competitive, and profitable project pricing. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of commercial and industrial general contracting with a mix of analytical skills, people skills, a sales mindset, good at math and the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, designers, and clients. Work alongside other departments (accounting, design, sales, operations, marketing) in a professional manner with a Team like attitude. Carefully review and understand all bid documents including but not limited to RFP's, qualifications, drawings, specs, and bid instructions to have the necessary understanding of the requirements, time, and costs required to complete the project prior to the bid going out the door. Create and submit accurate and competitive estimates. Write and submit scope letters that align with the dollar estimate, with inclusions/exclusions clearly listed. Create detailed and accurate construction schedules in Gantt chart format with buy-in from subcontractor and operations. Participate in and help prepare for owner/client interviews and presentations. Direct report to Lead Estimator and Director of Pre-Construction. Ability to work on multiple estimates at once (average 2 per week) and prioritize time effectively. Ownership of the accuracy of all estimates going out the door. Qualifications Required Experience & Education Minimum of 2 years required, 5+ preferred Bachelors in Construction Management or similar is a plus. Excellent organizational, math, and analytical skills with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent ability to read and understand architectural, structural, civil, and MEP/FP drawings. Excellent ability to read, understand, and implement drawings, specifications, addenda, construction schedules, invitations to bid, bid instructions into an accurate construction estimate. Excellent writing and grammar skills. Ability to create customer-facing materials that are properly formatted and free of spelling/grammatical errors or "AI slop". Ability to review, understand, and follow all bid instructions to the letter and meet deadlines. Ability to closely review bid documents to identify constructability concerns, conflicting details, and scope gaps. Ability to filter and submit quality RFI's. Ability to work efficiently and use technology effectively. Ability to follow directions, meet deadlines, and keep a organized calendar. Punctuality is critical. Understanding of commercial project delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, CMAR, GMP, etc.). Deep understanding of construction sequencing/critical path. Ability to create accurate construction schedules in Gantt chart format with subcontractor/operations buy in. Familiarity with the Kentucky tax exempt direct purchase order process is highly preferred. Strong experience and understanding of the design-build process is highly preferred. Knowledge / familiarity with the responsible use and exploration of AI and other newer technologies is a plus. Ability to identify risks during the review/bid phases and report them to leadership. Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work. Strong sales mindset, willingness to go the extra mile for the customer and stand out from the field. Ability to find creative ways to find a competitive advantage in bids without putting the business, schedule, dollar estimate, construction project, subcontractors, or customer at risk. A person who carries themselves with professionalism, integrity, and respect for others. Strong problem-solving skills.
